Tianhou Wang (2020, Engineering), was a participant at the XXVI Biennial Symposium on Measuring Techniques in Turbomachinery in Pisa, where he presented a novel experimental apparatus that he had created in collaboration with others.
The device is used to test jet engine compressors at transonic speeds which was previously only possible at a handful of establishments globally. It is believed to be the only device of its kind in the world and cuts the time and cost of such tests by two orders of magnitude.
The resulting technical paper is in the process of being published, so all the details will soon be available to read!
