Quantum materials exist at the frontier of modern physics, harbouring extraordinary phenomena, from high-temperature superconductivity to quantum entanglement. However, accurately modelling these complex systems remains one of the field's greatest challenges. My PhD research focuses on developing and applying state-of-the-art computational methods to understand and predict these behaviours. Specifically, I investigate how topological properties emerge within quantum materials and how they interact with superconductivity. By pushing the boundaries of current theoretical tools, this project aims to unlock fundamental insights that could pave the way for next-generation quantum technologies and energy-efficient electronics.
Who or what inspired you to pursue your research interests?
I have always been captivated by what happens when you probe matter at the smallest scales. My spark for quantum physics came in middle school, watching the colourful combustion of different salts and wondering about the invisible electrons driving the reaction. That early curiosity became a clear career path at Sapienza Università di Roma. The sheer passion my Bachelor's professors brought to the classroom inspired me to pursue research at the absolute frontier of the field. Their mentorship showed me that quantum physics isn't just an abstract theoretical concept, but an exciting realm of active discovery.
