Raffael Schumann, in his second year of a PhD in Biological Science at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, recently participated in the course "Biosecurity Fundamentals: Pandemics" by BlueDot Impact. This was a 12-week online programme covering technical and policy efforts to prevent, detect and respond to catastrophic pandemics.
Raffael was awarded first prize in the "Simple Explainer" category for this final project from this course, entitled "DNA origami-based virus traps – an explainer of a broad-spectrum antiviral for non-biologists".
